| Anybody selling a used car, around the $5000 range? One of the ladies from the church talked to me and said that her Honda Accord (13 years old) is too expensive to repair, so she asked me if she knew anyone who was selling their car! Let me know.=)

| Top 10 Questions People Ask the Loo's:
1. HOW'S MARRIED LIFE?
2. Where are you living now?
3. Where did you go for your honeymoon?
4. What is the hardest adjustments you've had to make since you've been married? (This is a tough question, but one of my favorites =). This one makes me think. )
5. Have you bought a house yet?
6. (For Christine, usually after people find out where we live) How long is the commute to your work?
7. (For Steve) Have you cooked for her yet?
8. (For Steve) How much weight have you gained (or lost)?
9. What's happening with the church plant in Corona?
10. Have you learned anything surprising about your spouse?
We both praise God for all of your prayers, well wishes, and love in helping with our wedding or rejoicing in our marriage union! We are so blessed by all of our family and friends, we feel like we do not deserve such an outpouring of love, but we know that this sense of undeservedness brings us to a closer understanding of God's grace.
Oh yes, you guys are wondering about the top 10 list, right? Yes, I will slowly but surely answer all these questions each week! I'll start with #1: Married life has been GREAT! We've been learning much about each other about balancing marriage and ministry, what our preferences are with chores and cleaning; Christine dealing with my snoring; and yes, Christine dealing with my snoring (solution: earplugs!!). But I think she's getting used to it...)

| I weighed myself on the scale and I lost 4 pounds!
I'm in the midst of trying to lose 10 pounds before my wedding (officially weigh in about a week before my wedding). One of the high school guys, Joseph, is trying to beat me by losing 30 pounds in the same time period! Unless I exercise almost every day, and eat salad for at least 50% of my meals, looks like I'll be treating Joseph to a steak dinner!! But the weight loss competition is not over yet! I'm doing weight loss for the Boss! Devotion IN MOTION! I'm getting TRIM FOR HIM!
Our wedding is just around the corner, and in answer to everyone's question, I am very excited to get married to Christine! She is definitely a godly woman, and I'm blessed to be able to serve her as my wife. =)

| Today (1/22) marks the 35th anniversary of U.S. Supreme Court's to legalize abortion on demand in America. But I hope you won't be celebrating.
One of the few facts known today is that 1 out of 3 pregnancies in the United States end in abortion. In our country, more than 1 million babies are aborted every year. That's 2,740 innocent lives taken every day. 2,740 dead today. The death toll is equivalent to 9/11 repeating itself every day, except that most of the deaths happen inside and unnoticed at an abortion clinic. And few people know that abortions are legal (in the US) anytime during the 9 month pregnancy.
One of the best deterrents against abortion is the local crisis pregnancy center. A NAMB article stated that Southern Baptist supported crisis pregnancy centers have given free counseling to 94,000 girls and women, shared the gospel with 28,000, and 4,000 have received Christ this year. More than 700 infants are alive today because of the ministry of First Life Center of Pregnancy at the First Baptist Church of Orlando, Fla! Since 1973, 3,000 crisis pregnancy centers have opened to provide spiritual and biblical counsel to thousands of hurting women dealing with the questions of abortion, as well as those who suffer from post abortion syndrome. The crisis pregnancy centers have made a huge impact. In your prayers this morning, thank God for the work of the crisis pregnancy care centers who are the voice for the silent majority that are being killed every single day - unborn babies.
Pray that you will have a passion for God's righteousness and justice to touch the lives of mothers, children, and fathers alike who have been affected by abortion. Fight in your prayers and spend your lives defending unborn babies, the oppressed people of this world. Pray for "all those in authority" -in all requests, prayers, intercession, and thanksgiving (1 Tim. 2:1-4) that they would do all in the power to limit and cease abortion. Pray for crisis pregnancy centers like Whittier Pregnancy Care Clinic, who are on the frontlines that God would use them to bring the Gospel into broken lives.

| So the latest persecution on Christians - some people find it offensive that a presidential candidate named Mike Huckabee wished his viewers "God bless and a merry Christmas" in a recent 30 second ad. Viewers on the Today show listened as Meredith Vieira opened the show with an interview with Huckabee, and talks about how some viewers are upset that this ad sends a religiously overt religious appeal to voters. Some people found it "offensive"when a candidate says "merry Christmas" and mentions that Christmas is after all, a day Christians celebrate the birth of Christ.
Uhhh...what are they offended about again?
So people are offended that a candidate offers a very positive and non-threatening greeting of "Merry Christmas?" And worse of all, when a candidate states what the holiday means? All he is stating is fact, what Christmas is. It is not more offensive if I said, "Easter is a day when Christians celebrate Christ's resurrection." How can you be offended when someone states a simple fact? Sure, you can feel free to disagree. But to be offended...? I think I need a cross reference to their offensiveness, because I think they are two rings short of a three ring circus. Ok, I'm going to say something very offensive. It may startle you, even anger you. Ready? "You are a celebrator of New Years Day, because it is the start of a new year." oooohhh. I know I offended you. Did I make you upset?
As if that wasn't enough, people love to read into things. Remember "The Lion King?" or "Matrix?" The governor is accused of putting a cross in his ad. The "cross" is just a bookcase in the background. The three lights? The critics say these are the "Father, Son ,and the Holy Spirit." Look at the video again. Did you see that? I may be accused of finding Christ under every rock and hard place, but I didn't even see that in the ad. I don't know, but these critics sound to me like bad Bible expositors, like the early theologians who found all sorts of things in the Parable of the Good Samaritan (Luke 10), saying that the robbers stood for Satan and the inn stood for the church. They're offended? I'm offended by their offensive exegesis of Huckabee's ad. Looks like the critics are finding more "religion" in the ad than Huckabee intended!
Yes, 1 Peter 2:13-17 and Romans 13:1-7 says that we Christians must be submissive to authorities, and I'm all for that. In fact the Scriptures go further and say that respecting and praying for the government is obligatory. But can't I be offended at what people take as religiously offensive? I'm offended by their offensiveness. Are you offended that i'm offended at what they are offended by?
Ok, when people have nothing better to do than slander people because of good character, or convictions, it does not disappoint me, it makes me happy. This gives me hope, because this means that they have no better argument against him. I mean, what are people going to say? "That Mike Huckabee! He really believes what he says he believes! He's a man of integrity, he's a terrible candidate?" Or , "He wished us a merry Christmas, I'll never vote for him again!" I guess people would rather hear about politicians who smoked cocaine or done marijuana, had extramarital affairs, or made empty promises about lowering taxes that they just couldn't keep. Alas, I guess Mike Huckabee just doesn't meet this "high standard."
